Pretty Potties and Lovely Luggable Loos

Funny title I know, but I wanted to show you all the progress I’ve made so far on my Luggable Loo. A Luggable Loo for those of you that don’t know what it is, is simply a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat attached to the top. You can put in these bags that come with special gel or use garbage bags and put some kitty litter in the bag. This makes a great portable toilet for those late night potty runs. The nice thing is you don’t have to run far to the campground bathrooms if you have a Loo handy.

Ok, so that brings me to the decorating part…My husband has definitely questioned my desire to glamp up my Loo. But you know us girls like things to be pretty even if no one sees it but us. He apparently doesn’t understand that (:

Since the interior of Buttercup is whimsical and sort of has a “Take me to the Carnival” feel to it, I thought what would be better than red and white stripes! Duct tape now comes in a wide selections of colors. How cool is that!? So we went and picked up some at the local hardware store and I got busy taping around the bucket. It’s not as easy as it looks I found because the bucket isn’t even from the top width to the bottom, so it was a slow process and I ended up with some wrinkling in the back. But that’s ok, I think overall it turned out OK. This isn’t quite finished yet though. The black strip you see around the top is velcro and I plan on sewing up a ruffle to attach to it using red and white material.

  3. Really, really cute….I have one that I purchased from KMART some almost 30 years ago. It falls under the same idea – a five gallon pail. Mine has a 'toilet seat' on the top and then a cover to put over that. Years ago it came in mighty handy when I was into the 'van' thing. Mine came with mushrooms painted on it. I guess that was suppose to disguise it!!

  5. Where can you get the toilet seat to go on top?

  6. I used a swimming pool noodle for the top I just cut it up the side, cut it to fit the top and slid it on the rim of the bucket.

  7. Another idea for out older camping friends is to use a bedside toilet. Just use the interior rim and take the bucket out. We use our 5 gallon bucket under each to catch the goodies and make disposal easy. We also use this in our music trailer while riding horses in parades!

  8. WHY DO U PUT KITTER LITTER IN IT

    • You can line the loo with doubled garbage bags and use kitty litter, saw dust, peat moss or even diapers. If using diapers just open them up and lay them (use two) in the bottom face up. Any of those will absorb liquid waste and help prevent smell.

  9. I don’t see no toilet seat cover on your loo
