Buttercup’s new home for the winter arrived and was installed this morning. The installers were suppose to come at 8am but arrived at 7am. They were sure fast in putting it up. I’m sure they have done 100’s of these. Now my husband is almost finished installing the side panels. Since this pretty much is butted up so close to the house and has the house overhang as protection on one side we are opting not to put panels on that side. Initially we thought we would enclose the back as well but are re-thinking that at the moment.
I think she’ll be nice and cozy in here. We’ll probably get her moved over here tomorrow. I have to first get the cushions out of her, adding bounce dryer sheets and just make sure she’s all cleaned out before her long winter slumber.
For those of you that may be in the market for a carport, we purchased this one from http://www.carport.com . On the website you can “build” one to your specs and it will give you a price. Ours measures 16ft long x 8 ft high x 10 ft wide. It took about 5 weeks from the time we ordered until it was installed. So keep that in mind. I’m sure most places that sell these would be the same as this is the time of year folks purchase these the most and their scheduling for installs gets backed up. The cost was appx $1230 with tax. The cost is based on your state. Because we are in MI it was higher because they have to use higher gauge metal due to heavy snow loads here. Now if we were in OH it would of only cost $900-something (Go figure). Expensive either way but the investment is well worth the peace of mind for years to come that our little vintage trailer will have a safe place to be during the winter, during storms with hail and rain during the times we aren’t camping with her.
Great Idea!!
A small investment to help protect a big investment!!
I've been working hard on my little 1968 IDEAL. Just put up a new post on my blog, feel free to drop by for a peek!!
Thanks for sharing!!

Do you think you could do a post on winterizing a vintage camper? I am wondering what all needs to be done.
Hi Debbie, I'll be sure and check it out (:
Cornbread and Beans, That's a great idea! I'll look into doing one. With ours there isn't much to winterizing it mainly because we don't use the water system (haven't yet anyway) and have no permanent toilet. But I'll do some research and see what I can come up with.
