Question about Renting Trailers for Events:
I’m looking for a vintage trailer to rent for a photo session, can you tell me where I might find one available?
Answer:
There is a group on Facebook you can join to find vintage trailers that are available for hire all across the country: https://www.facebook.com/groups/vintagetrailersforhire/ Once you join click on “Photos” at the top of the page to see all of the available vintage trailers. Also if you have a vintage trailer you are interested in renting out, you can join that group and post your trailer info.
Question about storage options:
Hi, my trailer won’t fit in my garage and so I’m looking for other storage options to keep it out of the weather. Do you think I should have it shrink wrapped like they do boats?
Answer:
I wouldn’t recommend shrink wrapping a vintage trailer and the reason why is because there would then be no airflow at all inside the trailer. What this does is create an ideal setting for any trapped moisture to grow mold. In fact I highly recommend that you crack open the windows even during the winter months. If you don’t have access to a garage, a carport would be the next best thing. If you opt to go with a carport be sure and go with one that will be able to stand up to the elements of whatever climate you are in. The steel carports in my opinion offer the best protection and are built to withstand heavier snow loads, wind, etc.,
I know a lot of people do tarp their trailer and in many cases that is the only option due to cost. If you do tarp it, try to leave access to opening a window now and then during good weather so you can get some airflow circulating.
How do you store your trailer? Has it worked well for you? Post in the comments below.
