Sink cover solution for vintage trailer

So I was out in my studio moving stuff off of a table as I need the table for this weekend's show and came across this vintage restaurant tray and a light bulb went off. This would be perfect to cover the sink in the Shasta Compact...if it fit. So I wiped it down and put it over the sink and voila! A perfect fit and great solution to add extra counter space.   I've … [Read more...]

New Stove Cover Before and After

I bought this great handmade stove cover for the Shasta Compact from Wendy's Prims N Things on eBay. I had it custom made so it would fit over the little stove perfectly. They did a fantastic job! I had them leave it unfinished so I could paint it to match my interior wall color which is a very pale yellow. Notice how it's wide enough that the right side sits on the … [Read more...]

Vintage Trailer Interior Pictures

I often find myself ohhhing and ahhing when I see other vintage trailer interiors. Folks are just so creative in how they go about decorating them. There is everything from Shabby Chic, Cottage, Retro and even Cowgirl themes. I thought I'd share some of my favorite interior pictures that I've run across on the Web. Courtesy of … [Read more...]

Vintage trailer space saving solutions

In my previous post I mentioned that I purchased one of these Cook's 3 in 1 Breakfast Center's. While these are relatively small, my kitchen counter space in the Shasta Compact is small too so I had to come up with a space saving solution on where to set the breakfast center.    What I came up with is to have one of these stove top covers made by Wendy's Prims N … [Read more...]

Before and After Closet Shelves in a Vintage Trailer

I'm trying to get several projects done this weekend and wanted to share this one with you all. I decided that we could use some shelves in the closet. You can never have too many shelves.  We have one of those hanging closet organizers in this closet but I also really wanted some stationary ones for food and or more clothes storage.  So off to the hardware store I … [Read more...]

61 Shasta Compact Canvas Bunk

I've been thinking a lot lately about the canvas sleeping bunk in our 1961 Shasta Compact. With the 1964 Shasta Astroflyte, sleeping arrangements were never an issue because it would sleep 5-6 easily, but since we have that trailer up for sale we may end up only having the Shasta Compact to use for 5 people. We've actually slept 4 people in the Compact. The … [Read more...]

Storage solution for camping and traveling

I have found out quickly that my tow vehicle doesn't have a lot of cargo room. We end up stuffing the hatch back area full to capacity and this is after packing the trailer full of things like dishes, smaller misc items, etc., So where is all this other stuff coming from? Well, it's mainly the cooler, toys, yard decorations, pillows, clothing, etc., I decided I had to … [Read more...]

61 Shasta Compact Interior Decorating

For the last few days I've spent working on decorating the interior of the Compact. I started out working on cushion covers (a nighmare I might add and eventually I think I'll have to have them professionally done). Next came sewing curtains and that was a breeze. Then on to painting the interior cupboards and drawer fronts. I went with a soft aqua or robin egg blue … [Read more...]

How to convert two single beds into one large bed in a Shasta Compact

If you have a dinette like this in your trailer (Ours is a canned ham shaped 61 Shasta Compact) that doesn't allow you to pull these benches together you can make a couple modifications and it will create one huge bed. Notice mine doesn't have any legs like the newer boxy Compacts usually do. I know my cushions are 6 ft long and the trailer is what...6 feet wide? So … [Read more...]

1964 Shasta Astroflyte Interior Photos Part 3
